Luma Documentation Excellence (DEX™) - Tier Overview

Luma DEX™ provides a structured pathway to elevate underwriting, governance and actuarial documentation to a standard suitable for boards, regulators, underwriters and external stakeholders.

The tiered structure supports different levels of documentation maturity, urgency and internal capacity.

Purpose: Improve clarity, readability and structure of existing documentation.

Best for organisations that already have documentation in place but require:

• Clearer articulation of assumptions and decisions
• Improved structure and flow
• Consistency across related documents
• Stronger alignment with internal governance expectations

Typical outputs include:

• Streamlined narrative
• Enhanced presentation of rationale
• Better linkage between decisions and underlying evidence

Purpose: A deeper uplift suitable for more technical or governance-critical documents.

This tier is appropriate when documents require:

• A full reorganisation of modelling methodologies
• Clear articulation of modelling methodologies
• Explanation of parameterisation, uncertainty and judgement
• Stronger linkage between risk, controls and governance
• Improved readiness for internal review or regulatory scrutiny

Includes everything in Tier 1, plus:

• Detailed reconstruction of narrative structure
• Explicit rationale for assumptions and methodologies
• Improved traceability between inputs, outputs and decisions
• Integration of evidence an supporting analysis

This tier is often selected for capital, reserving, risk or governance documents.

Purpose: End-to-end redevelopment for documents requiring exceptional clarity, defensibility and polish.

This is the premium option, used when documentation:

• Supports regulatory filings, submission or reviews
• Is presented to Boards, CROs, Chief Actuaries or external parties
• Must explain complex actuarial or governance concepts consistently
• Requires high-stakes clarity and strong justification of decisions

Typical scope includes:

• Complete redesign of structure, narrative and logic
• Deep actuarial and governance challenge
• Integration of modelling outputs, controls and risk considerations
• Traceability across assumptions, evidence and governance processes
• A final deliverable suitable for Boards or regulators

This tier is commonly used for:

• Underwriting governance frameworks
• Capital methodology documentation
• Validation reports
• Risk appetite and governance frameworks
• Strategic or regulatory submissions

Your DEX™ tier is determined through the DEX™ Pre-Screen, which assesses:

• Documentation type and purpose
• Maturity and current structure
• Governance expectations
• Urgency and review timelines
• Internal capacity
• Technical depth and required level of refinement
